Take Action Time!!

Helloo everyone !! More updates on Burnaby South Secondary Schools' Green Team !! We started our Composting Program !! For those who does not know what composting is, it's a solution to reduce garbage by collecting fruit and vegetable wastes such as: Apple cores, Banana peels, orange peels, egg shells, coffee grinds...and many many more !! EXCEPT Dairy Products : yogurt. cheese... AND Meat Products: ham, chicken, pork... AND all the greasy cooked up foods!!!! They are NOT acceptable for composting. Due to rotting and stinking. A LOT. The food collections will be turned to organic soil!! - After they decompose...

So, Green Team Members will walk around the hall ways in each section with green or white buckets to collect your left over food wastes. We hope you can hold on to them for a while and not throw them in the garbage can right away. We will try our best to go around the hallways as fast as possible and as many times as manageable by the students in Green Team. The current time of our collection is : 12:00pm to 12:15pm
Or, if you walk by E section courtyard, there should be 5 black coloured rollers composting bins too. The courtyard door is open at lunch and during school hours, so you could drop your food left overs ( Fruits and Vegetable !! ) into the bins. Just make sure you lock the notch of the composting bins' lid after when you are done. Thank-you.

Please support Green Team just by contributing YOUR food waste to us and LETS ALL make them into Precious Earth. Also, if you see us in the hallways, please be respectful to our FELLOW GREEN TEAM MEMBERS. If they ask for your food wastes, and you have some or you do not have any, please answer us with a "YES Thank-you" AND/OR "NO Thank-you" ( you do not HAVE to say exactly the above " " BUT, please at least reply back with an answer. Thank-you for your cooporation.

We're using these compost to create organic soil for our Future School Community Garden locating in our school area.
